When it comes to everyday dieting, you make a choice of what to eat. With that said, let’s talk about colors.

No, I’m not talking about the rainbow. Or tasting it. Skittles aren’t the good types of colors I want to speak upon.

The colors within our food from nature tell a story – a story of healthy life and meaning. Choose a meal that has a variety of colors. Each color has its own place within your Live Better Lifestyle: the red of an apple, the green of spinach, the yellow of a lemon, the blue of a blueberry, and the orange of a tangerine.

These are true vibrant colors found in nature.

It’s quite funny, because it’s such a simple concept. That is what makes eating a variety of them so effective.

Let’s break it down.

Red helps the blood, heart, and aids with anti-aging. Apples, red peppers, strawberries, raspberries, beets, cherries, tomatoes, cranberries, and goji berries are just a few of the foods you can find in the produce section.

These will help the blood flow in your body, and due to their high content of antioxidants, they slow the aging process and help maintain your cardiovascular system.

You’ll never have to worry about your body delivering oxygen and nutrients to your cells anymore.

Greens detoxify the body. Broccoli, spinach, kale, cilantro, artichokes, green tea, wheat grass, and chlorella all aid the body’s natural process of detoxification by binding carcinogens and other internal toxins together to prepare them to leave body.

Green foods neutralize the body and create a platform for health and create balance, causing all organs to perform at a higher level. Essentially green foods flush out your body. Talk about the perfect hangover remedy.

Yellow combats inflammation and you can do that with the help of pineapples, ginger, turmeric, flax seeds, yellow chili peppers, and olive oil. Inflammation is the cause of most of the body’s issues, so to decrease this is extremely important. These yellow foods hit inflammation at the cause, while relieving most muscle discomfort and pain. Perfect for after a workout or even just a long stressful day.

Blues and purples power the brain and nerves. Think plums, eggplants, blackberries, purple cabbage, and purple onions. The Anthocyanin levels within these food fuel your brain to power your body to achieve greater success. With increased memory and sharpness of the mind, eating blue and purple foods paired with foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as wild salmon or hemp seed, will help maintain proper brain health.

Blackberries are knowledge and knowledge is power.

Orange boosts the immune system making foods like sweet potatoes, carrots, orange bell peppers, oranges, and camu camu ultra important. With the immune system being your first line of defense, orange foods provide the building blocks for your sustained health. Vitamin C is important, but even more so are the vitamins A, B, D, E, selenium, and zinc, which truly are the foundation of your health defense system… all found in orange foods.

Make the goal of having at least three colors in each of your meals. When ordering out, try to find the most colorful dish on the menu – and no, fast food cheeseburgers don’t count. Mix up the colors you eat to truly feel the best ever. Nature speaks through food. Colors give us a guide to obtaining our optimal health. Let’s be the healthiest of all time by eating what fuels our bodies.

Enjoy nature’s colors. Enjoy food. Live Better.
