The first month of 2015 is almost complete, and with it came a bevy of fresh releases and noteworthy news in the world of Electronic Dance Music.

Therefore, we decided to save you the time and hassle by compiling The Best of EDM from the month that was January, 2015.

Two of the biggest names in electronic dance music in 2015 decided to start the year off right with a monumental collaboration: “You Know” by Oliver Heldens & Zeds Dead.

In similar fashion, Madeon hit the ground running in 2015 with his release of “You’re On” as well as remixes from Oliver, Alex Metric and Gramatik. We’ll let you assume which was our favorite.

The king of funk has returned in the form of a new single featuring iDa Hawk. It’s called “Stop Trippin” – because what else would Griz name one of his songs?

If you haven’t noticed, Gramatik has been busy over the past six months. Which is why he makes the list twice, with the second entry stemming from his latest original “Straight off the Block.”

After SNBRN popped up in our 21 Producers That Will Dominate 2015, social media has been abuzz over the tropical house guru’s latest hit – “Raindrops.”

I know, I know. Nicki Minaj doesn’t belong anywhere near The Six Thirty, but when a producer like Whiiite gets ahold of one of her songs, you know it’s going to be worth the price of admission. Which is free.

With a name like TheFatRat, how could you not be interested in his back-story? Unfortunately, we aren’t going to go into the nitty-gritty. That’s what Wikipedia is for.

Another baller-status name, another baller-status track. Mr. FijiWiji reps Monstercat on the regular, and when we saw Danyka Nadeau was featured on vocals we just couldn’t resist buying this track. Do the same.

Ilan Bluestone may be one of the most unheralded trance producers in EDM today. Therefore, it’s no wonder Anjunabeats scooped him up quicker than SFX acquiring the entire electronic music landscape. Yea, we’re looking at you React Presents.

Eric Prydz Collaborates With CHVRCHES

If this doesn’t get your panties in a bundle, I don’t know what will. Two powerhouse names in their respective genres, Eric Prydz and CHVRCHES have joined up to create one of the most diverse duos in recent memory.

While it’s only a preview, “Tether” has the ability to go mainstream quicker than Mia Khalifa’s Twitter account.

Feed Me New EP Features A Collaboration With Skrillex

Feed Me has a new EP coming out on February 2nd, but the first couple of previewed tracks really don’t live up to the hype. It looks like Jon Gooch is taking a more experimental route in the studio – take it for what it is.013115_Feed Me

At least we know one of the songs on the upcoming EP will be legitimate with our boy Skrillex featured. Here’s what the Gooch had to say about his upcoming EP titled A Giant Warrior Descends on Tokyo:

“After searching through all the corners of dance music and touring multiple versions of tracks and concepts I’m finding it easier to really define where I want to take Feed Me. Japanese culture has been a staple of my life so I wanted to bring this into focus with the artwork too, I love pushing for a global feel.”

The M Machine is Breaking Up

On the first day of their tour, Andy Coenen of The M Machine announced he will be leaving the music group for school to pursue his love of technology. Electronic music fans mourn the industry’s loss of such a talented artist – let’s just hope that Coenen is as good at “technology” as he is at producing music. Here’s what Andy had to say about the decision:

“The truth of the matter is I never thought I’d get to be a musician at all, let alone do it for six years. For those of you who know me well, this probably won’t come as much of a surprise, and for those of you who don’t I’d like to give a quick explanation – I’m moving on from my role in The M Machine to pursue my love for technology. I’m back in school for a bit, then who knows?”

The newly formed duo known as The M Machine will live to see another day. Good luck Andy, we wish you the best.
