Back in February, we reported that Spring Awakening Music Festival would not be held at Soldier Field.
Instead, the festival was to be held at Jackson Park. However, today we’ve learned that is not the case. That’s correct, Spring Awakening Music Festival will be changing its location for 2016, yet again.
Here’s what else we know:
– Spring Awakening will still be held.
– They already have a new location set up (more on that below).
– They will still be releasing the lineup in two phases (which makes absolutely no sense).
If our credibility isn’t enough evidence for you, maybe this post from JacksonParkWatch.org will:
We have GOOD NEWS. Not long after we sent out last week’s JPW Update, we heard from CPD’s Kim du Buclet, who verified that Spring Awakening will NOT be in Jackson Park. She told us that while the event organizer is still selling tickets online, it is doing so without a Park District permit and is looking for another venue for the festival.
Thanks to everyone whose expressions of concern about the destruction that this event would have brought to Jackson Park helped bring about this good ending.

With the festival set to take place in less than two months (June 10th – 12th), no official lineup, and another location change looming – there’s very little to look forward about SAMF 2016.
As of right now, we haven’t heard much about which location they’ve already confirmed to replace Jackson Park.
