The electronic cultural icon that is The Chemical Brothers took over the headlining role Sunday night on Glastonbury’s Other Stage.
During an hour-long set, the duo dropped mega-classics like “Hey Boy Hey Girl” while giving the Glastonbury audience a taste of their new album with “Go” and “Sometimes I Feel So Deserted.”
The new album, Born In The Echoes (out July 17th), elicits help from St. Vincent, Beck, and Q-Tip and promises to be a genuine ode to their past work. The Chemical Brothers never compromise their own sound in order to fit in with what is popular at the moment. This was ever so obvious watching them at Glastonbury 2015.
UPDATE: The full set has been removed from Youtube, but you can watch The Chemical Brothers performing “Saturate” below.
While DJs took over a large part of Glastonbury’s lineup, The Chemical Brothers would act more like rock stars rather than their EDM counterparts. With just one mesmerizing light show, Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands orchestrated a dark, dancey, and dramatic set that captivated the audience from the get-go.
The Chemical Brothers performance at Glastonbury 2015 was the ultimate kick-off to a slew of tour dates – including some very exciting stops in the US. Starting July 30th, the duo from Manchester heads to HARD Fest in San Francisco. Then they headline the Friday night of Electric Zoo Festival in New York before flying over to Chicago to close out North Coast Music Festival.
