NBA season is almost back.
In less than two weeks, our Chicago Bulls host everyone’s least favorite team with a shitty new commercial – the Cleveland Cavaliers – in TNT’s debut primetime broadcast.
And now we have reason to look forward to TNT’s second game on opening night, a first-round rematch between the New Orleans Pelicans and defending champ Golden State Warriors.
Sideline reporter and Chicago native Craig Sager, the man with the best suit game in sports media, will be back on the sidelines for the game – joining the booth team of Marv Albert and Chris Webber. So even though you have to deal with Webber’s dull analysis that night, the return of Sager is phenomenal news.
After beating two waves of leukemia, it essentially goes unsaid that everyone is happy that Craig Sager is healthy. It would be an understatement to say the Northwestern grad is well-liked in the industry.
Sager was able to make a brief return last year, receiving a warm welcome from his hometown crowd and Benny the Bull.
And, in a sport that some tend to label as “pointless until the playoffs,” it’s excellent news that one of the best parts of the NBA regular season will be there from opening night.
Because that’s exactly where Craig Sager wants to be.
