Baseball is over in 2015. The Kansas City Royals are World Series Champions. That is a saying so obsolete in today’s language that it’s only outdone by one thing:

“The Chicago Cubs are World Series Champions”

As Cubs fans we’ve been primed to believe that 2016 is the year. That Theo and Jed’s plan is a five-year plan culminating in 2016, and the wise old geezers in Las Vegas look like they agree with that sentiment because the Cubs have opened up as 11/1 favorites to win the 2016 World Series.

Don’t get me wrong, this means nothing and I know that. Someone has to open up as the favorite otherwise no one would bet on it. However, after all the years of futility it’s pretty cool to see your name get thrown around in a small grouping of teams projected favorites to win a championship.

Joining the Cubs near the top are this year’s World Series participants the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets each at 12-1. The Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Washington Nationals all slide in there on Vegas’ second rung.

What all this truly tells me as we anticipate 2016 is the the National League is going to be freaking loaded yet again. A buzzsaw of dominate pitching and power hitting that can only be truly matched by those guys out in Kansas City.

2015 was a final four year, Cubs fans. And a truly special season. 2016 is going to be absolutely legendary.
